Elizabeth Erwin

Elizabeth Erwin was raised on a steady diet of ABC soap operas, Sweet Valley High books, and 1940s horror. This left her with an affinity for big hair and dramatic monologues. She writes (and podcasts) extensively on horror film and popular culture and is co-creator of Horror Homeroom. Her digital humanities based dissertation, When the Woman Screams, examines the horror film scream as a site of cultural resistance and is the recipient of the 2026 Kathy Merlock Jackson Dissertation Award in Popular Culture Studies. Her current research explores the intersection of hauntology and works that fall outside the traditional Gothic canon. You can read her recent BBC interview on the television series Little House on the Prairie as horror media here.
